Austria
The Harvest Festival
(Bauernherbst)
It’s Autumn in the province of Salzburgerland.
The cows are being brought home from the higher mountain pastures for
the forthcoming winter months. The last harvest has been reaped and there
is a general feeling of celebration in the small villages. The farmers'
wives are busy preparing home made bread, smoked bacon ("Speck")
and the speciality cheese dishes, for which the region is so well known.
The cheerfulness of the locals is infectious - all you need to do is
join in the fun and festivities!
Tour Highlights: A unique local festival in one
