Suggested Itinerary for Alpine Explorer

Day 1 - Drive via short sea crossing to your overnight stay in the Liège / Genk area.

Day 2 - Continue to Austria, arriving in your resort early evening.

Day 3 - Feldkirch and Liechtenstein
Enjoy a morning at leisure then in the afternoon drive to the medieval town of Feldkirch. Visit the town’s main landmark, the “Schattenburg” fortress dating back to the 12th century. Continue to the principality of Liechtenstein, the 4th smallest European nation, and visit the capital Vaduz.

Day 4 - Germany: Lake Constance, Mainau Island and Meersburg
Journey to Lake Constance and visit the “Floral Isle” Mainau where you will have free time to enjoy some botanical jewels. Cross the lake by ferry to Meersburg and perhaps visit the city’s fortress, the oldest in Germany, dating back to the 7th century. Return to your resort via the charming lakeside town of Lindau, which lies between the Swiss and Austrian Alps and is the most southern city in Germany.

Day 5 - Switzerland: Buchs and Werdenberg
Travel via Buchs and Werdenberg, the smallest medieval city in Switzerland, to Schwägalp where there is the opportunity to take the cable car up the Säntis to an altitude of 2400 metres!! Enjoy spectacular views of the Bodensee, or Lake Constance, and admire the alpine scenery of the “Four Countries Corner”. Visit a dairy in Stein near Appenzell and learn why Appenzeller cheese looks and tastes the way it does! Cheese and wine tasting included. Return to your hotel.

Day 6 - Austria: Bregenz and the Bregenzerwald
Today consists of a scenic trip via Schwarzenberg and Bezau and through the Bregenz Woods. Stop in Bregenz, the provincial capital of Vorarlberg, a former Roman settlement, dating back over 2000 years. A guide will show you the highlights of this charming lakeside city, home to the Bregenzer Music Festival. Perhaps take a stroll along the lakeside promenade and see the festival stage, which is the world’s largest floating stage.

Day 7 - Depart the hotel and drive to your overnight stay in the Liège / Genk area.

Day 8 - Continue homeward via short sea crossing from Calais.

Please note: There is no full rest day on this tour, so two drivers are required.
