Suggested Itinerary for The Harvest Festival (Bauernherbst)

Day 1 - Travel via short sea crossing to your overnight hotel in the Metz area.

Day 2 - Salzburg
Continue the journey to your hotel in the area of Salzburg. At check in you will be met by your friendly and knowledgeable guide who will accompany you for the rest of the tour.

Day 3 - Salzburg
Your guide will take the group on a tour of Salzburg today and you will learn the history and culture of the city, the Sound of Music and Mozart. The tour will finish with a guided tour of Mozarts birthplace with the rest of the afternoon free to discover this idyllic city independently.

Day 4 - Wachau & Danube Cruise
Depart for Salzburg via the breathtakingly beautiful valley of the Wachau, your first stop will be the Baroque Abbey of Melk. Then board the Danube Cruise line, for a scenic cruise to Spitz. The coach will pick you up at Spitz and then drive further along by the river, via Dürnstein to Vienna and your hotel.

Day 5 - Vienna
Your guide will show you the highlights of Vienna, the city of romance and music. Travel the famous “Ringstrasse”, home to the Opera House, the Burg Theatre & the House of Parliament. See many other sights including the Belvedere Palace and the most well known landmark of all, Vienna’s Cathedral, the “Stephansdom” located in the heart of the city and finish the sightseeing with a visit to the Palace of Schönbrunn, the former Imperial Residence. Continue on to the traditional “Altwiener” Schnapps Museum and learn how schnapps has been traditionally brewed through the generations, followed by taste of this “firewater”. Following some free time in the city, head to the Prater fun fair & take a ride on the big wheel. Having enjoyed a bird’s eye view of the city, an evening of wine and song awaits in a local inn in the wine village of Grinzing.

Day 6 - Burgenland
A guide will take you on an enjoyable excursion to Burgenland, on the border of Hungary. You will drive through grasslands and lakes spotting castles that dot the landscape, which makes it clear why this province is called the "Land of Forts". You will visit some local wine cellars in the village of Rust and also enjoy a fabulous traditional lunch, accompanied by Hungarian Gypsy music. After lunch, you will board a boat for a cruise on Lake Neusiedl, followed by a short horse-drawn carriage ride. On your return to Vienna, a visit to the Baroque Castle of Esterhazy is also included.

Day 7 - Bratislava
Your courier escorts you on a full day visit to the twin capital of Vienna, Bratislava. Now part of the EU, Slovakia has been able to invest time and money in its capital and as a result, its old town has been beautifully restored. You will be guided through the centre where you will learn about the city’s past and present. The rest of the afternoon is free to discover the city independently and to buy some cheap bargains in the many shops and stalls. This evening you have another treat, as you will eat in typical Slovakian restaurant before returning to Vienna.
Day 8 Vienna Today is at leisure in this beautiful city. From another visit to the huge fun fair, to museums, or coffee and cakes in a traditional Viennese café, there is plenty to choose from. The evening programme brings this tour to a perfect close as you will eat in a traditional Viennese restaurant in the city centre, followed by a visit to an intimate classical concert featuring works by Mozart and / or Strauss.

Day 9 - Depart your hotel for your return overnight stay in the Frankfurt area.

Day 10 - Continue the journey home to your second overnight stay in Belgium.

Day 11 - Continue the journey home via short sea crossing from Calais.
