London and the Orient Express

It is without question that the British Pullman exudes an ambience of elegance and beauty. Originally conceived as a "Palace on Wheels" by George Mortimer Pullman, each lavishly appointed carriage is an original masterpiece from the 1920's and 30's that has been meticulously restored by skilled craftsmen to provide the ultimate in comfort and style.
For this short break we have put together overnight accommodation at one of our stylish central London hotels and a festive lunch aboard the Orient Express where you will dine in the elegant surroundings of the bedecked carriages.

Railways & Waterways

This short break is based on the outskirts of Manchester and includes visits to the East Lancashire Railway, which runs through part of the picturesque Irwell Valley giving breathtaking views of the West Pennine Moors. The journey starts in Bury and takes you north to Rawtenstall, you will then have some free time to explore the town where on a Saturday there is a traditional market. Also included is a visit to the Standedge Visitor Centre, which re-opened in the summer of 2006 and where you take a short return trip on the glass topped boat through the longest, highest and deepest canal in Britain.

Severn Valley Railway

Sit back and relax on this weekend break to the heart of England, where the historic train journey will take you back in time to a more leisurely age as you pass through the ancient riverside town of Bewdley with its quaysides, gardens and Georgian houses; past the timeless village of Arley slumbering on the river bank; through Highley and Hampton Loade to Bridgnorth, Shropshire's gem of a medieval market town. There's also time for a visit to Shrewsbury, which is set amidst the glorious Shropshire countryside and is one of England's finest medieval market towns and birthplace of Charles Darwin.
