Day 1 - Depart from Heysham and board the ferry to the Isle of Man. The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of Douglas allowing time to explore the island’s capital before dinner.
Day 2 - Castletown, Cregneash and Calf Sound
After breakfast
board the coach for an excursion to the south of the island, starting with
a visit to Castletown the former capital and home of the finely preserved Castle
Rushen. From Castletown it’s on to Cregneash to the folk village, where
life in a typical 19th century Manx upland comes to life. Later you can drive
on to Calf Sound to enjoy the panoramic views before heading off to the seaside
village of Port Erin.
Day 3 - St Johns
After breakfast join the coach for a morning
excursion cross country to St Johns, the historic home of the longest lasting
parliament in the world and on to the peaceful fishing village of Peel. Return
in the afternoon to Douglas where you can spend some time at leisure, perhaps
a trip along the promenade by horse-drawn tram (early May - late Sept).
Day
4 - Laxey, Snaefell and Ramsey
Today you head to where the wheel is the spectacular
focus of this historic mining valley. The Lady Isabella is the largest wheel
of its kind anywhere in the world. From here you take a trip on the Snaefell
Mountain Railway (the only electric mountain railway in the British Isles)
to the summit of Snaefell. From Snaefell you can take the coach to Ramsey
the second largest town on the island.
Day 5 - Depart for the journey home.
