Day 1 - Depart UK travelling to your overnight stay in the Paris area.
Day 2 - Continue south to the scenic region of Aquitaine, arriving in le Bugue early evening.
Day 3 - Le Bugue
Time to relax in your new beautiful surroundings in
the Dordogne. The hotel is located on the riverside in the pretty village and
there is plenty to do.
Day 4 - Périgueux and Bergerac
Drive to Périgueux
this morning, capital of Périgord province, situated on the Isle River.
Continue to the bustling little town of Bergerac, famous for its wine production.
Wander the old town and its quaint harbour located on the river.
Day 5 - Sarlat-la-Canéda
and Eyrignac Gardens
Drive to Sarlat, a beautiful town, where narrow winding
streets lead you past elegant burgher’s houses
with pretty facades and stone roofs. Places to visit include the Church of St
Sacerdos with its Romanesque tower and the Bishops Palace with its Renaissance
façade. The main square comes to life on Wednesday mornings as the weekly
market is in full throng. Continue to the Manoir d’Eyrignac to visit the
gardens, which are considered by many to be the most beautiful in France. Payment
is on arrival but Leisure Breaks can make the booking for you.
Day 6 - Gouffre de
Padirac and Rocamadour
Drive via Souilac to the Gouffre (or underground cave)
de Padirac, a huge system that has become perhaps the most famous attraction
of the region. You will descend 103 metres by lift to reach the river where
a boat trip takes you through some of the caverns. Continue to Rocamadour,
a magical town with golden houses that cling to the cliff side over the Alzou
canyon.
Day 7 - Depart your hotel and drive to your overnight stay in the Paris area.
Day 8 - Complete the journey to the UK via short sea crossing from Calais.
