Suggested Itinerary for Lake Annecy & the French Alps

Day 1 - UK for your overnight half board accommodation in the Paris area.

Day 2 - Continue the journey to Lake Annecy and 5 night half board accommodation at the Best Western in Annecy.

Day 3 -Annecy
Time to relax and enjoy your new surroundings. Annecy has been called the Venice of the Alps due to its pretty old town, dissected by ancient canals. Boat trips regularly go around the lake but equally enjoyable is a stroll along the lakeside promenade. The arcaded streets, narrow bridges and medieval buildings such as the 12th century castle overlooking the town are all waiting to be explored.

Day 4 - Lake Geneva
Cosmopolitan Geneva is situated in the idyllic southwestern corner of the famous Lake Léman, within view of Mont Blanc. The city is full of parks and promenades and during the summer at the south shore pier, you can admire the Jet d'Eau which fires out water to create the world's tallest plume. Also worth a visit is the famous Flower Clock in the English Garden and the old town, full of medieval character. From Geneva travel to the flowered village of Yvoire, with its 14th century ramparts, ancient castle, gateways and stone houses.

Day 5 - Chamonix
Take the motorway to Chamonix, lying in a valley at the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps standing at 4,807 metres. Take a train along the mountain to La Mer de Glace where there are superb views of the Flégère, Brévent and Montenvers summits. Alternatively stroll around the town of Chamonix, which has a plentiful supply of cafés, restaurants and boutiques. Return to Annecy via the Val d 'Arly through the spectacular River Arly Gorge.

Day 6 - Thones and La Clusac
Enjoy a half-day excursion to the lovely village of Thônes and continue to the Reblochon Dairy for a cheese tasting. Afterwards visit La Clusac, a ski resort in the Aravis mountain range where the buildings typify architecture of the Savoie region. Return to Annecy for a final afternoon at leisure.

Day 7 - Time to depart Annecy and travel to the overnight half board accommodation in the Paris area.

Day 8 - Complete the journey to the UK via your preferred short sea crossing.
