Famous French Wines:
Champagne, Burgundy &
The Alsace

Choose from Burgundy, Alsace or Champagne, all of which have beautiful countryside and towns that are as typical of their region as they are beautiful. All tours stop in Arras each way so include free time to visit this charming baroque town. Our chosen hotels are located in town centres of the region, famous for a successful tradition in wine production.

Reims (Champagne)
Reims is a bustling city where many church steeples jut out along the skyline, surrounded by Champagne’s rolling hills. Aside from a plethora of restaurants and bars there are countless monuments, some of which are UNESCO listed, such as the famous Cathedral, where past monarchs were crowned. Take a trip out to Epernay to see the museum or take a boat trip along the Marne through the vineyards.
Colmar (Alsace)
Colmar has a town centre of narrow cobbled streets lined with small timber framed medieval houses that seem to push each other in different directions, vying for space. The pretty vineyards of the Alsace sit neatly between the Vosges Mountains and the German Black Forest border; immaculate medieval villages nestle along the wine route, their brightly coloured timber framed buildings hiding traditional restaurants, bars, shops and wine cellars.
Beaune (Burgundy)
Beaune is the centre of the Cote d'Or's wine producing region and the surrounding villages such as Savigny-les-Beaune, Pommard and Volnay offer excellent opportunities for sampling full-bodied reds and finding out more about the production techniques.
Arras
Arras, capital of Pas de Calais has two enormous cobbled squares – the Grand Place (which has also has a few bars and restaurants) and the smaller Place des Héros, which is always bustling with people in the cafés, bars, shops and town hall. You can climb to the viewing platform high up the belfry of the town hall and look over the two squares and the historic town. Under the Grand Place is also a labyrinth of tunnels where troops and locals sought refuge during times of war.
