Germany
Christmas Markets and Spring City Breaks
Cologne is still the most popular Christmas market
destination. Six markets spread across the city centre, the most impressive
of course being at the foot of the Cathedral, where there are 160 stalls
and the largest Christmas tree in the Rhineland. In front of the town
hall there is a selection of delightful attractions such as Santa’s
grotto and a puppet theatre whilst at the Chocolate Museum there is a
medieval market with street entertainment.
Trier is Germany’s oldest
city and the lovely market has 95 stalls selling plenty of seasonal fare
and there are choirs and puppet shows to enjoy. A short trip from Trier
is Bernkastel, a beautiful medieval town with a Christmas market to match.
