Suggested Itinerary for Italian Adriatic, Venice and Florence

Suggested Itinerary

Day 1 - Travel via short sea crossing to your first overnight stay, in Liège.

Day 2 - Continue to your next overnight stay on the Swiss / French border.

Day 3 - Arrival in Milano Marittima. This evening take a stroll along the promenade and become familiar with your surroundings.

Day 4 - Milano Marittima
Enjoy a day at leisure in this exclusive seaside resort on the Adriatic Riviera. Backed by pinewoods the resort combines elegance and tranquility with a friendly lively atmosphere. Stroll along the beach and promenade or through the sandy paths that weave through the pinewoods, then discover the town centre, where you will find a wealth of shops, restaurants, nightspots and trendy bars.

Day 5 - Florence
This morning, drive to Florence, art capital of Tuscany. The amount of monuments and museums to visit in this city is breathtaking – impossible to take in all in one visit! The afternoon is at leisure to discover the city independently, walk the cobbled historic centre, not forgetting to stop at the Ponte Vecchio, Giotti’s Bell Tower and the world famous Duomo. Day 6 - Bologna and Ravenna
The beautiful redbrick, walled town of Bologna located at the foot of the Appenines is most famous among Italians for its fabulous cuisine, so any visit should include time for a tasty lunch in a local “Osteria” restaurant. While away some time in the Piazza Maggiore, where you will see the Basilica di San Petronio, and the Torre Asinelli. Alternatively just follow the arcaded streets around the old town, through endless arches and columns that frame the pavements. Continue to the ancient town of Ravenna, which once served as the seat of the Roman Empire. Ravenna is famous for its ancient mosaics, which can be seen throughout the town and the tradition of mosaic making is also very much alive. You can always visit the permanent exhibition of contemporary mosaics at the Loggetta Lombardesca.

Day 7 - Venice
Depart early this morning for a fantastic day in Venice, parking at Tronchetto and taking a boat transfer to the centre. Visit some of the most famous sights in the world - St Mark’s Square, the Rialto Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs. Leisure Breaks can book a guide including the coach parking and boat transfer. Day 8 - Milano Marittima
At leisure in resort.

Day 9 - San Marino
This morning, drive to nearby San Marino, the world’s oldest surviving republic, perched on the top of wooded hills with views across the Emilia Romagna countryside. Visit the richly carved Palazzo Publico built in the late 14th century, with its battlements, balconies and selection of art and sculpture inside the marble halls. Visitors also cannot miss the Rocca tower and the churches of San Francesco and San Pietro.

Day 10 - Travel to your first return overnight stay on the Swiss / French border.

Day 11 - Continue to your second overnight stay, in Belgium.

Day 12 - Travel homeward via short sea crossing from Calais.
