Day 1 - Travel via short sea crossing to your overnight stop on half board in the Metz area.
Day 2 - Lugano
Continue through France and drop through Switzerland, arriving on the border
of Italy in the evening. This evening is free for dinner and maybe a stroll
to the lakeside.
Day 3 - Lugano
Day at leisure to discover this lovely resort, which has an atmosphere
of Swiss and Italian elegance combined. Take a trip on the funicular up the
mountain side or do a spot of shopping in the designer boutiques.
Day 4 - Lake Maggiore
Take a trip out today to lake Maggiore, whose lake divides the regions
of Piemonte and Lombardy. Stop in Stresa, an exclusive resort, popular since
the early 20th century, it is made unique by the unforgettable Borromeo Islands
that sit a short distance into the lake. To make the most of today, we have
included a boat cruise to these lovely islands, where views vary from picturesque
white villages with colourful window boxes to grand palatial buildings and
immaculate gardens. Famous regular visitors include Ernest Hemingway and
George Bernard Shaw.
Day 5 - Lake Como & Florence
Depart early this morning, stopping for a short visit in Como. Stroll
the walled town and take pictures of the fantastic views to over the lake.
Continue passed Milan, stopping on route for lunch before carrying on to Tuscany,
admiring the typical rolling hills as you drive and arriving at your hotel
in Florence this evening.
Day 6 - Florence
This morning we have included a guided walking tour in Florence, art capital
of Tuscany. The amount of monuments and museums to visit in this city is breath
taking - you simply cannot see it all in one visit. This afternoon is at leisure
to discover the city independently. Walk the cobbled historic centre, not forgetting
to stop at the Ponte Vecchio, Giottiís Bell Tower and the
world famous Duomo.
Day 7 - Lucca & Pisa
Travel on a pretty journey towards the the mouth of the River Arno, to
see perhaps the most famous landmark of Italy, the leaning tower of Pisa,
visit the attractive cathedral and stop for some lunch in this pretty and
compact centre. On the return journey, visit the charming town of Lucca
Day 8 - Bologna
Depart Florence this morning, stopping in Bologna (time permitting) for
lunch and a short stop. Arrive in Mestre / Verona this evening. The evening
is free to relax in your new surroundings.
Day 9 - Venice
Enjoy a fantastic day in Venice, parking at Tronchetto and taking a boat
transfer to the centre. Sights are world famous such as St Markís Square, the
Rialto Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs.
Day 10 - Depart after breakfast, journeying back up through the Swiss countryside, arriving in Metz in the evening.
Day 11 - Continue homeward via short sea crossing from Calais.
