Suggested Itinerary for Castles, Gardens and Canals

Day 1 - Travel via short sea crossing to Eerbeek and check into your hotel.

Day 2 - Het Loo Palace
After breakfast, drive to the famous Het Loo Palace for a guided tour through the romantic gardens. This afternoon the theme is Operation Market Garden, taking you back to 1944 when allied paratroopers attempted to secure Holland's bridges to assist forces in getting round the Siegfied Line into Germany. After 10 days the operation ended in failure and the evacuation of troops from Arnhem. Included is a half day guided tour which also has a visit to the Airborne Museum.

Day 3 - Muiderslot and Amsterdam
First stop this morning is the attractive 17th century castle, Muiderslot where we have included a guided visit. The castle is surrounded by a moat and is located at the mouth of the river Vecht and its past roles varied from hunting lodge to prison. On to Amsterdam, where there will be time for shopping and sightseeing after your included canal cruise.

Day 4 - Giethoorn and Zwolle
This morning you will visit the charming village of Giethoorn, where pretty canals are crossed by old bridges. A canal cruise in a traditional "whisper" boat is included from where you can most appreciate this picturesque area. This afternoon continue to the old town of Zwolle for shopping and sightseeing.

Day 5 - Time to depart and make your homeward journey via short sea crossing from Calais.
