Spring City Breaks and Christmas Markets
Amsterdam is one of the most vibrant and colourful cities in the world and during November and December the festive decorations and lights just add to the exciting atmosphere. Alternatively visit the city in spring and take advantage of the fantastic hotel prices and the early season shopping sales. In addition to the bustling shopping and entertainment quarters, don't forget to seek out the quaint hidden neighbourhoods, where you discover sleepy tree-lined canals, with brightly painted houseboats moored at the feet of tall, elegant gabled houses.
The charming little town of Valkenburg lies in the picturesque Geul Valley. Tourists flock here throughout the year, but especially during the Christmas market period, attracted by the market held in the underground caves, which are lit and decorated to evoke a special festive atmosphere. Visit Maastricht as well, where you find a Christmas market and also "Winterland", where attractions include an ice rink, fairground rides and festive produce.
