Suggested Itinerary for Idyllic Lake Bled

Day 1 - Travel to Belgium via short sea crossing to Calais, for your first overnight stay in the
Genk / Liège area.

Day 2 - Continue to the second overnight stay in southern Germany (Nuremburg area).

Day 3 - Continue to Slovenia, arriving this evening at the Hotel Ribno.

Day 4 - Bled
Today is at leisure to relax and explore your new surroundings. There is a short shuttle service from the hotel to the lakeside (small fee payable locally). You might want to take a boat (called a Pletna) ride to the idyllic island and ring the church bell, which is said to make your wishes come true! Bled has been recognised by the world as one of the most beautiful spa resorts since the times when it was part of the Austrian Empire. Take a walk and discover the history and scenery of your home for the next few days.

Day 5 - Postojna Caves & Lipizzaner Stables
First stop is the outstanding Postojna Caves consisting of mysterious, beautiful sculpted galleries, chambers and halls. Then it’s on to the stud farm at Lipica, situated in oak and maple woodland, where the graceful white Lipizzaner horses are bred. Enjoy a performance by the classical riding school and watch the stallions and riders perform to classical music.

Day 6 - Ljubljana
A guide will meet you at your hotel today and escort you through this interesting city, sitting in the shadow of its hilltop castle on the banks of the Ljubljanica River. This ancient city is criss-crossed with bridges that cross the river and link different quarters, most of which display fine examples of Baroque art and architecture.

Day 7 - Lake Bohinj & Triglav National Park
The guide meets you again at the hotel and you will then spend the morning in Bled. The town is at least one thousand years old and was visited by pilgrims back in the Middle Ages, (replaced by tourists in the 19th century) seeking the healing waters of the lake and mountains. This afternoon you will be guided through the Triglav Park and to Lake Bohinj. Spy small steepled churches and squat houses located somewhere on hillsides between the shimmering waters and austere mountains. Steep ravines and gentle grass valleys cut through the green landscape and waterfalls tumble down the sheer rocks as you pass, the most famous of which is the huge Mostnice waterfall in Voje valley.

Day 8 - Depart this morning travelling to your first overnight stay southern Germany

Day 9 - Continue to your second overnight stay hotel in Belgium .

Day 10 - Complete the journey home via short sea crossing from Calais.
