Suggested Itinerary for The Mountains and Trains of Switzerland

Day 1 - Drive via short sea crossing to your overnight hotel in the Reims / Metz area.

Day 2 - Continue driving through the French countryside aiming to arrive at the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 3 - Interlaken
Today is at leisure to discover this elegant resort where there are many shops and cafés and a beautiful park right in the centre of town. The resort is completely flat so it’s easy to spend the day wandering, shopping and people watching.

Day 4 - Lucerne
Today take a very scenic drive past mountains and lakes to the beautiful lakeside city of Lucerne. Discover the medieval old town with its colourful frescoed facades and also the two beautiful covered wooden bridges that cross the River Reuss. There is plenty to keep visitors amused, from museums, cafés, bars and promenades, but it is also worth taking a boat trip out on to Lake Lucerne, stopping at one of the many lakeside villages.

Day 5 - Jungfrau Railway
No stay in Interlaken is complete without a trip on the Jungfrau railway. Passengers can do part or all of the trip, staying a while either at the peak which is the highest vantage point in Europe at 3571metres, or at one of the other stages of the mountain journey. We recommend that all passengers take the train from Grindelwald, to Klein Scheidegg where the views across the Eiger and Jungrau are magnificent. Lunch can be enjoyed here before descending via a different dramatic route to Lauterbrunnen where the coach can meet the group again. It is possible to split your group today on the train journeys around the mountain, according to individual preference. (Ask Leisure Breaks about this when making your booking.)

Day 6 - Bern
This morning enjoy a half-day excursion to Bern, the charming capital city of Switzerland. Walk through the quiet cobbled streets that cross through the old town, crammed with medieval sandstone buildings. Green hills overlook the pretty sight and the fast flowing River Aare curves through the centre of the city. There are plenty of shopping opportunities to buy those last minute souvenirs and gifts.

Day 7 - Depart after breakfast, arriving in Reims / Metz area for your half board overnight stop.

Day 8 - Continue home via your short sea crossing from Calais.
